As was predicted, eBay purchased StumbleUpon for $75 million. As I’ve mentioned, StumbleUpon is one of my favorite tools to use when I’m sitting in front of the TV wasting time. It harkens back to the early days of the Web when people would literally browse looking for anything online. While this is random, the browsing takes you to quality sites and not just any non-approved site. These sites are given the thumbs up from other browsers. It’s like Digg, but purely for discovery. Question is how will eBay capitalize on this and the Skype acquisition. There are obvious connections. But so far all we’ve seen is a wait and see approach no true integration of applications.
StumbleUpon new stuff to buy?
