Yesterday, I gave a presentation for the PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) Silicon Valley chapter entitled, “Social Media Realities…What They Don’t Tell You.” The presentation essentially focused on the “media” part of “social media.” My annoyance with most social media consultants and general discussion of social media is the talk is mostly about distribution or the “social” side of social media. Very few people discuss how to actually create the thing that everybody’s talking about, the media. That was the essence of my discussion and I was eager to know what rang true with some of the attendees, so afterwards I turned the camera on a few of them and asked them, “What was your greatest takeaway from the event?”
