This post is from Ragan’s 5th Annual Social Media for PR and Corporate Communications Conference in Las Vegas where I reporting for Ignite Technologies.
There’s nothing more irritating than someone prejudging what you do for a living. People who work in PR and communications deal with this issue all the time. PR people get pigeon-holed as spinmeisters or just pushing their agenda. In actuality, that does not describe their business at all. In fact, their communications job is far more nuanced.
After the first day of Ragan’s 5th Annual Social Media for PR and Corporate Communications Conference, I caught up with attendees at the Brand bar at the Monte Carlo hotel in Las Vegas and I asked them, “What don’t people get about PR and communications?”
Everyone had a very strong opinion on this subject. Here are their answers.
